Allied Universal is seeking Security Guard - Gatehouse Operations in Etobicoke, Ontario.  

Job Title: Security Guard - Gatehouse Operations

Location: Etobicoke, ON

Type: Part Time

Pay Rate: $19.27 per hour

Shifts: Saturday - Sunday, 6am-6pm

Overview :

We are currently seeking a reliable and dedicated Security Guard - Gatehouse Operations for a distribution centre in Etobicoke, ON. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, maintaining a secure facility, and providing excellent customer service to employees, contractors, and visitors.
The Security Guard will primarily work from the gatehouse, managing access control procedures and monitoring all incoming and outgoing traffic. The successful candidate must be comfortable occasionally leaving the gatehouse to assist with truck movements, verify vehicles, and support site security procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Access Control: Monitor and control access to the facility by verifying employees, contractors, visitors, and delivery drivers. Ensure only authorized personnel and vehicles enter the premises while following all site security procedures.

• Gatehouse Operations: Operate the gatehouse by maintaining accurate logs, verifying shipping and receiving documentation, recording vehicle arrivals and departures, issuing visitor access, and communicating with site personnel regarding incoming and outgoing traffic.

• Truck Entry & Exit Management: Assist drivers entering and leaving the property by providing direction, verifying vehicle information, and ensuring proper access procedures are followed. Occasionally leave the gatehouse to support truck movements and complete required checks.

• Surveillance Monitoring: Monitor CCTV cameras, alarms, and security systems from the gatehouse. Respond promptly to suspicious activity, security concerns, and site-related incidents.

• Patrolling & Site Checks: Conduct occasional security checks outside of the gatehouse, when required, to verify vehicles, respond to concerns, and support overall site safety.

• Emergency Response: Respond to medical emergencies, fire alarms, security incidents, and other workplace emergencies. Follow established site procedures and coordinate with emergency services (Police, Fire, and EMS) when required.

• Customer Service: Provide professional and courteous service to employees, contractors, visitors, and drivers by assisting with access procedures, directions, and general inquiries.

• Incident Reporting: Complete detailed incident reports, daily activity logs, vehicle logs, and shift reports documenting all security-related events, observations, and actions taken.

• Policy Enforcement: Enforce site security procedures, access control requirements, health and safety policies, and client-specific rules to maintain a safe and secure facility.

REQUIREMENTS :

• Open availability for rotational shifts, including days, nights, and weekends 
• Must be able to reliably commute to the location
• Ability to operate technology and wireless communication systems at client-specific sites
• Must have a valid Ontario Security License. 
• Must be eligible to work in Canada up to 24 hours a week. 
• First Aid and CPR 
• Must be at least 18 years old. 
• High school diploma or equivalent/GED or equivalent work experience 
• Physically capable of standing or walking for long periods, climbing stairs, and occasionally lifting or carrying up to 20 kilograms.
