Job Description

Job Title: Security Assistant Supervisor
Location: Downtown Victoria, BC
Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Wage: $23.00 to $23.50 per hour
Schedule:

  • Tuesday to Thursday: 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
  • Friday & Saturday: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

 

Position Overview

Allied Universal is seeking a Security Guard Assistant Supervisor to join our team at a high-profile shopping center in downtown Victoria. This retail and tourism hub welcomes millions of guests annually and requires a strong, service-focused security presence.

Reporting directly to the Security Supervisor, the Assistant Supervisor helps coordinate the day-to-day operations of the on-site security team. This role provides guidance to front-line staff, ensures consistent security standards, and plays a vital role in incident response and guest relations.

 

This position requires eligibility for Reliability Clearance. Applicants must have lived in Canada for a minimum of 5 consecutive years to be considered.

 

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Support

  • Assist in supervising on-site security personnel and daily shift operations
  • Serve as acting supervisor when the Security Supervisor is unavailable
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and on-the-job training to security staff
  • Help ensure team members meet appearance, conduct, and performance standards

Site Patrols & Incident Response

  • Monitor property through regular patrols and surveillance systems
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and emergencies according to site protocols
  • Investigate security-related issues and complete thorough reports
  • Monitor and operate CCTV, access control, and other security systems

Administration & Communication

  • Maintain detailed and accurate incident logs, reports, and shift notes
  • Ensure functionality and accountability of security equipment (radios, keys, access cards, etc.)
  • Liaise effectively with site management, tenants, guests, and emergency responders
  • Assist with scheduling, shift coverage coordination, and operational planning

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce mall-specific security policies and procedures
  • Support compliance with Occupational Health & Safety standards
  • Identify safety concerns, maintenance issues, or hazards and report accordingly

 

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Valid BC Security Worker License
  • Eligible for Reliability Clearance (must have resided in Canada for the past 5 years)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a security role (retail or public venue experience preferred)
  • Previous supervisory or team lead experience is an asset
  • Valid First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable using computers, incident management software, and mobile tools
